Your Bridal Trial/Preview
A bridal trial or preview is for you and I to make a plan for your wedding day hairstyling and makeup.
It's time to put together your whole look and ensure we compliment your dress, your chosen wedding colour palette, veil, accessories and create a timeless, elegant bridal look.
Below are some hair and makeup prep tips for prior to your trial/preview.
Where to start...
- Start searching for hair and makeup inspiration if you haven't already.
- Ask yourself if you are a hair up or hair down kinda gal?
- Do you want to see pieces in the front framing your face or do you prefer it off your face?
- Whats my favourite feature to makeup? Eyes or Lips or cheekbones....?
- Will you be keeping your current hair colour? And have you scheduled a trim and maybe a treatment?
- Are you having a veil and/or hair clips or accessories?
- We will discuss all of this at your trial but it's really good to start the process.
HAIR + MAKEUP PREPARATION
You will need to prep your hair and face for your trial/preview. The reason for this is that we need to have very clean, very dry hair to style with and a clean, makeup free face to start makeup on.
How to cleanse + dry your hair like a pro
Soak your hair all the way through. Double cleanse! Shampoo your hair and rinse. Then repeat! This time focus on all the edges of your hairline and the crown of the head. Rinse really well. If you think you haven't washed enough or rinsed enough just start the process again.
Nourish. Use conditioner to nourish the mid-lengths and ends. Don't be tempted to apply directly to the root area. Leave for a few mins and rinse well. Do not put a treatment in your hair the week before unless your hair type is frizzy, coarse or very naturally curly.
Towel-dry and comb out then preferably using a hairdryer and smoothing brush, blow dry your hair with the dryer nozzle angled down. Alternatively, air-dry or if your hair is very long, thick, coarse, frizzy or curly - once completely dry - use straightening irons to smooth the cuticle.
Think ahead of time about where you like to wear your parting i.e. centred, left or right and if you'd like pieces out to frame your face or if you'd like it behind the ears. Please consider this when having a trim, cut or colour/highlights before the wedding day.
SKIN PREP
DRINK WATER, LOTS OF IT
If you desire flawless, glowing makeup for your wedding day, it all starts from within. I can’t stress this enough. If you don’t make any other changes to your lifestyle before your wedding or special event please just do this one.
TREAT YOUR SKIN
If you have never had a facial before, now is a great time to treat yourself. Facials are divine and they serve more purpose than you imagine. Think massage, relaxation, self- care, skin cleansing, gentle resurfacing, hydrating and possibly a teeny-tiny little bit of extraction but its totally worth it in the end!
EXFOLIATE
Every-day makeup and makeup for special events and weddings have very different requirements, the main one being that event makeup needs to last all day long and into the evening. So we choose products that do just this. When your skin is dry, crumbly, flaky or bumpy - the makeup will just sit on top of this and can sometimes make it more obvious. Aim for a smooth, hydrated face. Some of us won't be able to change this quickly so please know that together I will help you!
Regular exfoliation helps to buff away any dull skin cells sitting on the surface of the skin. It will improve your complexion, improve circulation and unclog your pores. There are specific facial scrubs and peels to do this so you decide, always ask a dermatologist first if you have never embarked on a skin care journey like this before. Using active ingredients and products are key to freshening up your skin for wedding day makeup.
Don't forget your lips! Invest in a lip scrub and load your lips with something nourishing especially before the trial/preview and the wedding day.

Housekeeping:
Please allow 2 -2.5 hours for your hands-on bridal hairstyling and makeup trial. It's a small studio space so please discuss with me if you are wanting to bring someone along with you.
Please wear white or similar colours to your bridal gown/outfit. Preferably with a similar neckline.
Together we create one bridal hairstyle and one bridal makeup look, if you wish to create more than one style then a second consultation needs to be booked at additional cost. We discuss in detail the style options before starting.
Unwell policy: Please provide me with as much notice as possible if you are unwell, have a temperature or need to reschedule for another reason.
As you can imagine, it is critical that I remain well to show up for all my beautiful brides and clients this season. I am happier to reschedule than risk it.
All consultations are weekday availability only and can start at anytime from 9:15am through to 12:15pm is the last appointment. Please let me know if you will have difficulty with these days.
Please arrive on time to your appointment and not early (and of course not late) as I like to be ready for you and also another client may be leaving.
Studio address is 18 Killarney Avenue, Torbay. Look for the long white fence on the bend of the road. Parking on the road. Come in the gate at the top of the driveway and up the steps to the pod at your appointment time.
Photos and/or videos will be taken before, during and after our trial/preview for the purposes of capturing the whole bridal look, recording products and techniques used and sometimes for promotional purposes. Any sharing will be done so with integrity.
Additional extras:
Depending on your chosen look and your hairs' current length and density we may discuss the option of using extensions or padding to create a more desired shape or to create the desired styling. These can be hired or smaller items can be added to your invoice as required.
Almost all images we find on Pinterest or Instagram for bridal will have had a little help from these items so please consider this a topic when we meet.
False (one day) lashes included if required.
Purchasing some products for yourself for your wedding day might be suggested such as lipstick, lipstick for bridal party or loose mattifying powder etc.
